Not a fan of tanning beds especially for ladies under 18. Spray tans look good on stage - just get it done like 2 days before so you can get retouched if it starts to come off in spots. Not sure tanning is necessary for systems like Coed.

We tried a spray tan and didn't like it-no tanning beds-to young.

Yes, tanning beds have state age regulations for a reason.  Nothing safe from a health prospective.  Sorry ladies

If you don't use a spray tan; please tell me why. I always think these have turned out well and it is much more quick and convenient. Thanks!

Spray tans can look fake up close. They look best when you are on a big stage with strong lighting. Also they can rub off in blotches and make the inside of your hands look weird.

We did a spray tan one time and doubt we will do it again. We followed all the directions and it looked great as soon as it was done but by the next day she had patches that were very dark. It rubbed off and almost after a week it rubbed off inside clothing. So we just weren't impressed with how it went. She did look ok on stage and from a distance but not up close.

Well I will be the odd one out on this one.  In Samantha's age group and younger make up is not allowed and whether or not you think a spray tan is make up... it will come off if they swab your face like they have been doing.  Samantha tans in the backyard or at the beach but usually the week before a pageant we go to a family owned tan salon and she tans in a bed.  They taught her everything she needed to know to protect her skin and her eyes.  They provide the best quality lotions and eye care.  There are different lotions for the face than the body to protect the more sensitive skin on her face.  Her tans always come out natural and beautiful.  In the light dresses she prefers, without some color she washes out on stage.  She still has her color from nationals because she moisturizes properly and it looks great.  After a few times, she now prefers the bed because it never burns and takes less time away from all she has going on.  The natural sun sometimes burns her and takes a long time.
One year we forgot our lotion so my husband ran out and bought some from walgreens.  It was white in my hand and while I rubbed it on but then after the day was over the inside of her dress was bronzed.  I was so upset to think she had bronzer on without knowing!!
